Eastern Washington University's Department of Psychology invites applications for an Assistant Professor to support the Ed.S. School Psychology Program, to begin September 16, 2021.
In keeping with the high standards established by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), the Psychology Department is committed to the selection, training, supervision, and professional success of students in the Ed.S. School Psychology Program. The program adheres to a scientist-practitioner model and offer a structured sequence of curricular and field experiences with an emphasis on closely supervised training experiences across multi-tiered systems within schools. Program faculty members establish strong relationships with one another and with site supervisors to support students to engage in meaningful field based experiences.
The Psychology Department offers the Ed.S. School Psychology Program through three tracks that meet the needs of learners across a continuum of needs, from those with less experience to those entering the program with advanced experience and degrees. The program utilizes synchronous and asynchronous delivery of online courses and in-person training requirements on the Cheney campus.
The current position includes primary responsibilities for teaching online and hybrid for the School Psychology programs, with additional support of undergraduate majors. The position also includes responsibilities for field supervision, service, and scholarship. Opportunities for summer teaching, although not required, may be available.
1. Teach 36 credits per academic year, subject to Department needs, but to include online courses and/or on-campus courses in Cheney, WA.
2. Teach courses in the School Psychology programs, such as counseling, intervention, consultation, assessment, foundations, and research courses.
3. Advise undergraduate students who are declared majors on Department, College, and University requirements and career opportunities
4. Contribute to program, college, and university committees and support NASP approval activities.
5. Participate in the leadership of local (e.g., PEAB), state (e.g., WSASP), and regional professional organizations
6. Pursue productive research, scholarship and/or creative activities, including professional activities leading to publication, performance, and/or formal presentation in the field
7. Pursue research funding through grant development
8. Mentor student portfolio development
9. Collaborate with colleagues in utilization of creativity and best practice knowledge in curriculum development, classroom instruction, and student supervision.

- Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D. or ABD in School Psychology; candidates who meet one of the following criteria may be considered:
- Candidates with a doctorate in a related field and who also offer specialist level training as a school psychologist;
- ABD candidates in School Psychology may be considered (PhD must be conferred by 9/01/2021 for this position which begins 9/16/2021)
- Eligible for Washington State ESA certification in school psychology
- Interest and/or experience in online learning
- Competent with and experienced using, database, email, and other forms of instruction technology
- Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of core courses in school psychology such as counseling, consultation, assessment, research, and foundations courses.
- Demonstrated ability to advise students and to supervise graduate student practicum, internship, and portfolio experiences.
- Experience working with school districts and in professional settings as a school psychologist
- A high degree of interest in human and cultural diversity, social justice and experiential and community- based education. Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.
- National Certification in School Psychology (NCSP)
- Psychology Licensure or license eligible in Washington State
- PREPaRE Certified Trainer
- Demonstrated ability to teach in an online format using synchronous and asynchronous components
- Experience teaching university or college graduate level Psychology courses
- Commitment to quality teaching and student development
- Demonstrated high degree of interest, ability, and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity

Responsibility / Duty:
A Faculty Activity Plan will be developed by the end of the first quarter of the selected candidates appointment, and will consist of a combination of teaching, research, and service and/or release time to perform administrative duties, as negotiated and as needed to meet the business needs of the department.
Teaching: teaching workload for Assistant Professors typically include:
- Teaching 36 credits per academic year, subject to Department needs, but to include online courses and/or on-campus courses in Cheney, WA.
- Teach courses in the School Psychology programs, such as counseling, intervention, consultation, assessment, foundations, and research courses.
- Advise undergraduate students who are declared majors on Department, College, and University requirements and career opportunities.
Teaching includes the following additional responsibilities as defined in the faculty CBA:
- Meet all scheduled classes.
- Plan, organize and inform students of course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance expectations and methods of evaluation including grading scales.
- Schedule and attend office hours.
- Turn in grades according to established deadlines.
- Additionally, all faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning.
- Contribute to program, college, and university committees and support NASP approval activities.
- Participate in the leadership of local (e.g., PEAB), state (e.g., WSASP), and regional professional organizations.
- Pursue productive research, scholarship and/or creative activities, including professional activities leading to publication, performance, and/or formal presentation in the field.

Conditions of Employment:
The required start date for this position is 9/16/2021. To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than 9/16/2021.
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.
Note: Interviews will be conducted via Zoom (camera must be enabled). While we anticipate being open for in-person instruction for academic year 2021-22, should Washington State or university pandemic restrictions disallow for in-person instruction, then courses will be taught via online platforms, including Zoom and other technologies. Candidates must be able to demonstrate competence using these technologies.
Salary Information: The expected salary for this position is $67,835.
