Associate Director Responsibilities include:
Associate Director, Emergency Response and Referrals: Oversee the implementation of and training for the Counseling Center's Emergency Response. Oversee all referrals and supervise the Case Manager. May supervise additional staff after orienting to clinic, depending on experience and seniority.
Therapist: Psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and emergency on-call service.
Administrator: Run the center in the Director's absence, in conjunction with the Associate Director, Director of Training.

Position Summary Information

Essential Duties Summary
Emergency Response and Referrals:



    1. Oversee the Center's implementation and training for Emergency Response of all types.

    2. Oversee the Center's referral service including follow up, documentation and supervision of the Case Manager.

    3. May supervise additional staff after orientation to clinic depending on experience and seniority.






Therapy:


  1. Provide individual and group psychotherapy to all students, but wilth a special focus on trauma treatment. Will include one evening.

  2. Provide referral resources within the institution and local community.

  3. Maintain patient records in accordance with regulations, policies, and established practices.

  4. Serve as on-call clinician, with weekday, weekend, and back-up duties.

  5. Provide crisis intervention services.

  6. Upgrade skills through training and continuing education.

  7. Provide primary and back-up on-call services evenings and weekends

  8. Some outreach to campus community.




Administration:


  1. Oversee clinical staff's management of clients with acute needs.

  2. Contribute to outreach and education planning.

  3. Participate in the selection of new hires.

  4. Review and update policies and procedures for the Counseling Service, in compliance with latest regulations.

  5. In the Director's absence (in coordination with the Associate Director, Director of Training):

    1. Coordinate inter-departmental policies involving the Furman Counseling Center.

    2. Serve as consultant to Deans Evaluation Committee.

    3. Conduct re-admission interviews.

    4. Lead staff meetings.

    5. Oversee clinical services.









Knowledge Skills and Abilities



    • Expertise in trauma treatment and crisis intervention - may include DBT , EMDR , trauma-focused treatment and trauma informed care.

    • Experience supervising trainees of different experience levels

    • Experiencing assessing and referring clients to different levels of care.

    • Training/experience in crisis management

    • Ability to work with and be sensitive to diverse populations; particular interest in and/or experience working with college-age women

    • Ability to effectively address issues of race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity and other identities within the campus community to promote social justice.










Required Qualification Summary



    • Doctorate in clinical, counseling psychology or social work.

    • Licensed in New York State

    • 3 to 6 years' relevant clinical, supervisory, and administrative experience

    • Experience supervising trainees of different experience levels

    • Experience facilitating the hospitalization of clients

    • Strong presentation and communication skills

    • Training/experience in crisis management

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
