Our adult inpatient psychiatry service at Stony Brook University is seeking a full-time psychiatrist who welcomes the challenge and satisfaction of providing inpatient psychiatric care to a diverse population in collaboration with a motivated multidisciplinary team of clinicians, educators and researchers.

The Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry will serve as an Attending Psychiatrist on our 30-bed adult inpatient unit. Responsibilities include direct patient care including diagnostic evaluations, follow-up care, and teaching and supervision of medical students, residents and fellows. Shifts totaling 40 hours per week with cross coverage as necessary, including weekend/holiday coverage for the Inpatient Adult Psychiatry Unit and consults (one day of call approximately once every 7-8 weeks). There are also opportunities for clinical research involving psychiatric inpatient treatment and in collaboration with other departments.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

MD/DO with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Adult Psychiatry. Eligibility for New York State licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:

1) 3+ years of clinical experience in adult inpatient psychiatry.

2) Track record of research and other scholarly activity.

3) Teaching experience in Psychiatry.

4) Experience in testifying in court for patients going to retention or treatment-over-objection hearings.
