The Wesleyan College Department of Psychology is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin August 2026. This position carries a 3-4 teaching load (21 credit hours annually) and will contribute to our Psychology, Applied Psychology (online), and Neuroscience majors.
Teaching responsibilities primarily include general psychology, courses in our research methods sequence, and cognitive psychology, with additional courses based on candidate interest and expertise. We expect that a candidate with an emphasis in cognitive psychology would be an ideal fit, but we are open to applications from candidates with closely related specialties. We seek candidates who employ innovative teaching methods and embrace interdisciplinary connections.
All faculty are expected to participate in curriculum development, professional development through continued scholarly activity, service to the college including serving on departmental and college-wide committees, and student recruiting. Faculty are encouraged and supported in their endeavors to maintain an active research program involving undergraduate research assistants and to accompany students to our annual regional conference.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Psychology (by start date); demonstrated ability or potential to teach general psychology, research methods sequence, and cognitive psychology; commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentorship; excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate with a small department and across campus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Specialization in cognitive psychology or a closely related area; college teaching experience in psychology; demonstrated success maintaining an active research program with undergraduate involvement; experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
