Job Description
Working closely with the Program Director and Department Chair, assumes responsibility for coordinating the practicum training for students in the College of Arts and Sciences' Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology (GIPP). Provides personalized attention to students to enhance the program experience and empower our students to reach higher levels of success. Serves as Coordinator of Psy.D. Pre-practicum, Practicum, and Externships for the Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties is instrumental to the education of the University's students.

Description of Key Responsibility:
Maintains and coordinates pre-practicum, practicum and externship placements for all students. Maintains an up-to-date listing of available pre-practicum, practicum and externship sites. Maintains Tevera and its database, including practicum agreements, practicum evaluations, and all other documentation required for field placements (student liability insurance, health records, criminal background checks, HR documents, etc.). Coordinates and runs practicum orientation meetings for all students. Assists students with placement decisions and practicum concerns via advisement as needed. Coordinates Supervisors Day and a matching process for students. Assists unmatched students with securing placements. Maintains regular communication with field supervisors and Professional Practice Seminar (PPS) and Case Conference Seminar (CCS) instructors addressing training concerns as they arise and monitoring student competencies via written evaluations. Conducts monthly seminar meetings with first year pre-practicum students and meetings with externs as needed. Submits and processes approvals of Affiliation Agreements or Memoranda of Understandings (MOUs) between University legal counsel and Provost. Reviews submission of all practicum agreements and follows up with students who fail to submit paperwork in a timely fashion. Reviews and signs off on practicum evaluations and prepare remediation recommendations for students receiving unsatisfactory performance ratings. Reviews and analyzes practicum-related program statistics. Verifies practicum training hours for students preparing for the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) internship match. Organizes and updates practicum-related materials and updates website for roster of training sites available to students. Conducts site visits. Contacts agencies, hospitals and schools to initiate or develop new training sites for students. Writes and distributes welcome letter and policy and procedure updates to practicum field supervisors. Writes letters of recommendation as requested by students and/or provide letters of eligibility as requested by practicum sites.

Assists with planning of graduate student orientation day/welcome reception. Meets with admissions candidates or interested students visiting campus during the summer months.
Assists with program planning, course scheduling, advising, admissions, and serving as a voting member of the Doctoral Training Committee. Covers for Director during periods of absence/vacation periods. Meets with Program Director as needed to assist with administrative program planning.

Formal Education:
Knowledge of a highly advanced professional discipline (e.g., M.D., Ph.D., J.D. or equivalent doctoral degree) required. Major(s) required: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D., or Psy. D.) in Clinical Psychology or related field. Should hold a license to practice psychology in Connecticut. If licensed in another state, would need to become licensed in CT within one year of employment.

Work Experience:
Normal office situation. Occasionally requires travel, including overnight stays.

Impact of Actions:
Decisions and impact are limited to a small work group or project team and to classes they teach.

Requires regular contacts with external persons of importance and influence involving considerable tact, discretion and persuasion in obtaining the cooperation of others. Requires the handling of delicate/sensitive relationships and complex situations.

Customer Relations
Contact with customers is face-to-face or over telephone, email and/or social media for directly selling/representing the University of Hartford.

Managerial Skills
Responsible for providing limited supervision for one or more functions within a department. Formally plans, assigns, directs and coordinates the work of these functions. Typically responsible for performing some non-supervisory duties in addition to supervisory responsibilities. May perform staff evaluations and make recommendations regarding pay and/or performance.
