Director, Psychological Clinic, College of the Liberal Arts

The Department of Psychology at Penn State seeks a full-time Director for the Penn State Psychological Clinic.

The Psychological Clinic is a fully licensed comprehensive outpatient community mental health center for the region, as well as the training and research site for the Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology. The clinic is among the largest associated with a doctoral training program in the United States, providing psychological and neuropsychological assessment for adults, adolescents, and children; psychological and psychiatric outpatient treatment for adults, families, adolescents, and children, including those with serious mental illness and personality pathology; and school- and hospital-based intervention programs. Faculty supervisors and clinical staff are licensed and paneled with major insurance companies to bill for services. The Psychological Clinic employs 2 full-time assistant directors, a medical director, psychiatric staff, and several full- and part-time clinical and administrative staff.

Penn State is an APA- and PCSAS-accredited clinical science doctoral program. The Psychological Clinic facilitates the seamless integration of research and practice in clinical training with a fully developed practice-research network for conducting clinical investigations.

This position is a full-time Academic Administrator/non-tenure-track clinical faculty position (filled at the academic rank of Clinical Professor or Associate Clinical Professor; rank will be commensurate with experience). Responsibilities for the Director are mainly administrative and include coordination of clinical services; oversight of compliance, licensing and state and federal regulations; staff supervision; consultation with community agencies; and budget administration. Additional duties include supervising graduate students in evidence-based therapy and assessment practices, program development, and facilitation of clinical research.

The Director will be a fully participating member of the clinical doctoral program and university community. Candidates must have a doctorate from an APA- or PCSAS-approved program, completed an accredited internship, and be eligible for licensure in PA. It is preferred for candidates to have at least 5 years of clinical administrative experience, knowledge of HIPPA regulations and mental health law, an exemplary interest in the integration of science and practice, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in their clinical practice and supervision.

Penn State, the College of the Liberal Arts, and the Department of Psychology all maintain broad initiatives focused on enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education, as well as to improve our understanding of the antecedents, the correlates, and the consequences associated with diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity. Candidates are both welcomed and encouraged to discuss if/how their research, teaching, and/or service may contribute to these initiatives at the University, College, or Departmental levels.

We wish to fill this position immediately; start date is negotiable. Candidates should submit a letter of application, a CV, and statements describing i) experience with clinic administration/leadership, ii) clinical training and expertise, and iii) approach to clinical supervision. Selected (re)prints are also welcome but not required.

System limitations allow for a total of 5 documents (5mb per document) as part of your application. Please combine materials to meet the 5 document limit.

Three letters of reference should be arranged and, if solicited, submitted to PsychApplications@psu.edu.

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
