POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy seeks to fill two (2) tenure-track positions beginning August 2021 at the rank of Assistant Professor (although outstanding candidates at another rank may be considered). The positions are in the areas of developmental psychology and school psychology.

For both positions, the successful applicants will be responsible for teaching courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels developing a successful research program; advising undergraduate students; supervising student research; and engaging in service to the program, department, college, university, and profession. For the school psychology position, primary responsibility will be to the NASP-accredited School Psychology Specialist Program. The developmental psychology position will manage the Developmental Psychology major and minor and meet graduate program needs for developmental psychology expertise.

The Psychology Department is one of the University's largest departments, with four practice-oriented graduate programs (APA-accredited Ph.D. Clinical Psychology, NASP-accredited Specialist in School Psychology, M.A. Clinical Psychology, M.A. Industrial-Organizational Psychology), an outpatient training clinic, three undergraduate majors (general, developmental, I/O) and two minors (general, developmental).

School Psychology Position Qualifications:
- Doctorate in school psychology or a related field from an APA-accredited program
- Candidates should hold or be eligible for licensure/certification as a school psychologist in the state of Michigan
- Strong affinity for and ability to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Clear evidence of research productivity or potential
- Clear evidence of the capacity to direct undergraduate and specialist-level research projects as well as doctoral dissertations
- Commitment to cultural inclusion and diversity
- The area of specialty is open, but preference will be given to applicants with potential for teaching excellence across a wide range of psychology courses, particularly related to assessment, consultation, behavior analysis, mental health intervention, and multicultural competence

Developmental Psychology Position Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology or a related discipline
- Strong affinity for and ability to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Clear evidence of research productivity or potential
- Clear evidence of the capacity to direct undergraduate and master's-level research projects as well as doctoral dissertations
- Commitment to cultural inclusion and diversity
- Area of specialization is open, with preference for research that focuses on bi-directional levels of influence of biological and social factors on behavior at any phase of the lifespan, research methods, or quantitative methods
