Staff Psychologist, Psychological Clinic, Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Penn State seeks applicants for full-time Staff Psychologists for adult-track clinical services at the Penn State Psychological Clinic.

The Psychological Clinic is a fully licensed comprehensive outpatient community mental health center for the region, as well as the training and research site for the Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology. The clinic is among the largest associated with a doctoral training program in the United States, providing psychological and psychiatric outpatient treatment and psychological and neuropsychological assessment for adults, families, adolescents, and children, as well as school- and community-based intervention programs. The staff at the Psychological Clinic consists of clinical faculty as well as full- and part-time clinical professionals, administrative staff, and doctoral trainees. Penn State is also an APA and PCSAS accredited clinical science doctoral program which facilitates the seamless integration of research and practice in clinical training with a fully developed practice-research network for conducting clinical investigations.

Primary responsibilities for the Staff Psychologist are for adult-track clinical work and include the following:
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy for a broad range of clinical disorders in both short- and long-term treatment formats
  • Provide initial consultation and diagnostic assessment for clients with a wide range of mental health, behavioral, emotional, and developmental concerns
  • Provide behavioral health and case management services


Other primary responsibilities include collaborating with staff and other professionals to provide the best care possible for Clinic clients, completing all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner, and performing all services according to relevant ethical and professional standards of care.



Staff Psychologists may also supervise Ph.D. students in the Psychology Clinic.

Education and Experience: This position will be filled at the rank of a Psychologist 3. This rank typically requires a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and a year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants must have had one year of a full-time pre-doctoral internship in professional psychology and be eligible to become a licensed Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.
