Basic Function:
The Department of Social Science and Policy Studies (SSPS) at Worcester Polytechnic Institute seeks candidates for a tenure track assistant professor position in health psychology for appointment in the fall of 2018. Candidates should submit a: cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, research statement, evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., summary of teaching evaluations), up to three representative publications, and names of three references who will submit letters of recommendation.

Review of applications begins on September 15, 2017 and will continue until the position is filled.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will show evidence for, or promise of, high quality scholarship, an active research program, and the capacity to obtain external research funding. Candidates should also be excellent undergraduate teachers who can teach a variety of introductory and advanced courses, such as Introduction to Psychological Science, Social and/or Cognitive Psychology, Health Psychology, Psychophysiology, as well as other courses. The successful candidate will show how they engage undergraduate students in their research program. Candidates will support the Psychological Science and Global Public Health undergraduate programs and will participate in academic advising of these students. Candidates should also express their capacity to contribute to the broader departmental mission of bringing the social sciences to non-majors and how they might contribute to other departmental programs in Science Technology Policy, Environmental and Sustainability Studies, and/or Economic Science.
