Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for two full-time, visiting positions in the Department of Psychological Science to begin September 1, 2022. These are one-year appointments, however the department anticipates continued vacancies, and the successful candidate(s) may be considered for reappointment, contingent upon favorable evaluation and the continuing needs of the College.

Major/Essential Functions: The annual teaching assignment for both positions is 7 courses, one of which will be a one-month January Term course determined by the candidate and appropriate to the candidate's expertise. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in the candidate's specialty as well as contributions to the departmental required courses. Applicants with the ability to teach statistics, research methods and/or general psychology will be given preference.

Prerequisites
Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD in Psychology or ABD status.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching
  • A demonstrated commitment to pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach their maximum potential.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience teaching undergraduate courses and knowledge of evidence-based pedagogy
  • Experience advising and engaging in research collaboration with undergraduates
  • A clear understanding of the importance of a liberal arts education and a vision for contributing to that education.
