Visiting Instructor - Mindfulness-based Transpersonal Counseling

We are searching for an experienced Visiting Instructor - Mindfulness-based Transpersonal Counseling at our Paramita Campus facility.

Job Summary:
The Graduate School of Counseling and Psychology (GSCP) seeks to fill full-or part-time visiting faculty positions in the Mindfulness-based Transpersonal Counseling (MTC) department beginning August 1, 2021. The job includes administrative duties for the MTC department and the Graduate School of Counseling and Psychology (GSCP), including but not limited to recruitment and admissions, networking within the field of mindfulness-based transpersonal counseling, student learning outcomes assessment, and active engagement in the delivery of the MTC concentrations.

Qualified applicants must be able to demonstrate consistent success in negotiating the pedagogical, clinical, and collaborative responsibilities of a faculty appointment within the degree program and within the Graduate School of Counseling and Psychology (GSCP).

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Teach 24 credits (full-time) or 12 credits (half-time) each academic year, in the residential MTC and/or hybrid MTC concentrations.
Attend and actively participate in all programmatic and school-wide meetings, as well as co-curricular events sponsored by the MTC department.
In concert with the MTC leadership teams, develop and conduct plans for student learning outcomes assessment, and ongoing curriculum development.
Actively participate in the administrative operations of the MTC department, including admissions interviews and events.
Engage in professional development that includes pedagogy, contemplative education, transpersonal education, and diversity/inclusivity.
Hold regular office hours and provide professional and academic support to students and prospective students as needed outside of class time, both in-person and remotely.
Understand and adhere to the policies, procedures, and protocols outlined in the Faculty and Employee Handbooks.
Complete additional program duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
Minimum length of prior relevant professional experience required:
2 years

Other Experience, Knowledge, Skills, or Competencies Requirements?
A master's degree from a graduate institution of recognized standing in counseling or a related field.
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Colorado at the professional counselor (LPC), psychologist, social worker, or equivalent level.
Comprehensive understanding of the counseling field and those it serves, in particular in clinical mental health counseling settings.
Teaching experience at the graduate level that is informed and enriched by clinical practice.
Demonstrated skill in recognizing and addressing issues related to privilege, oppression, diversity and inclusivity in higher education communities, especially in regards to curriculum content and classroom facilitation.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with a collaborative style.
The capacity to teach a diverse student body, diverse therapeutic experiences, and a comprehensive understanding of transpersonal counseling/psychology and mindfulness-based approaches to transpersonal counseling.
Ability to track one's personal emotional reactivity with compassion
Commitment to co-create an inclusive community and actively participate in related professional development, including openness to feedback and ongoing self-examination

Preferred Qualifications
Earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, Psychology, or related field from an accredited program.
Status as an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) or eligible for an ACS credential.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to principles of contemplative education and familiarity with the vision of Naropa University.
Demonstrated capacity to teach and provide curricular leadership in social and multicultural foundations.
Demonstrated capacity to teach mindfulness-based approaches to counseling.
Capability of teaching some of: Gestalt, diagnostic psychopathology, assessment, research and program evaluation, career development, human growth and development, transpersonal psychology, counseling practicum, and internship.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:
Faculty members spend most of their time in their classrooms or in virtual meetings with some time in offices. In the classrooms and on campus may experience: interruptions, distractions, heat, cold, dust and/or dampness. As a faculty member, you may spend extended periods in front of students and speaking as well as:
Reading academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.
Operating personal computer and audio-visual equipment.
Standing or sitting for hours at a time.
Moving around campus for classes and meetings.

General Supervision:The supervisor provides continuing or individual assignments by indicating generally what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines and priorities. Additional, specific instructions are given for new, difficult, or unusual assignments. The employee uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments. The supervisor assures that the work is technically accurate and in compliance with instructions or established procedures.
